Eucharistic Adoration

Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

The brief meditations we offer are from
Marie Benoit Angot’s Treatise,
“The Life of Adoration”.

Angot writes that Adoration / gazing upon

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is:

“an impulse  which rushes out from all our being

in order to align itself,

like the needle on a compass,

with the living Person of Christ …

a meeting of the soul with Jesus.”

Can we distinguish between Adoration and Contemplation?
Is there a "cross-over"?

The Cloud of Unknowing reduces Contemplation to these six words:

"a naked intent stretching towards Him."

Love in Adoration can be portrayed in the following words:

"When my gaze turns to Jesus-Eucharist,
my mind and heart are drawn along in the same direction."

Is there a cross-over?

Contemplation:
"Stretching towards Him."
Adoration:
"Drawn along [to Him]."
